What do I Need to Know?

  • The match will be the first time Mayu Iwatani and IYO SKY (formerly Io Shirai) have squared off in singles action since 30th April 2018.
  • The pair have had seven singles matches prior to Grand Destiny, with all but their first match – back in 2013 – taking place at Korakuen Hall.
  • The current record between the two reads as 3-2-2 in IYO’s favour, with their last match being a time-limit draw during the semi-finals of the 2018 Cinderella Tournament.
  • Together, the pair were known as Thunder Rock – perhaps the most famous team in Stardom history – winning the Goddesses of Stardom Championships and holding them for 407 days between 2015 and 2016, which is still a record reign for the belts even today. The pair also won the 2015 Goddesses of Stardom Tag League and were beaten finalists the following year.
  • The team reformed to team up one final time during IYO’s final Stardom match before her departure for the WWE in June of 2018.
  • The pair were inseparable during their time in Stardom, with Mayu crediting IYO as her big sister, and saying that she helped her both in and outside of the ring. This started as early as 2012 when IYO invited both Mayu and Arisa Hoshiki to join her Planet stable.
  • 2nd Marigold World Champion Utami Hayashishita has been champion for 296 days – in her first reign. This will be the fifth title defence of her reign.
  • This will be the first singles match between the pair, and the first time Miku Aono has challenged for the Marigold World Championship.
  • Miku Aono challenges for the World Championship as a result of her winning Marigold’s summer round-robin tournament, the Dream Star Grand Prix.
  • 2nd Marigold United National Champion Mai Sakurai has been champion for 296 days – in her first reign. This will be the seventh title defence of her reign.
  • Victoria Yuzuki has never challenged for the United National Championship before, but is a former-Superfly Champion.
  • Yuzuki has never beaten Mai Sakurai in singles action, with both of their previous singles matches taking place in Stardom in 2023, and Mai winning both matches. Mai Sakurai has also beaten Yuzuki in tag team action when MiraiSaku defeated Selene Flora in a Twinstar Championships match and in the semi-finals of the 2024 Twinstar Cup.
  • 5th Marigold Twinstar Champions Magenta (Maria (1) & Riko Kawahata (1)) have been champions for 169 days – in their first reign. This will be the second title defence of their reign.
  • With a reign of 169 days at the time of Grand Destiny, Magenta are the longest-reigning Twinstar Champions in the company’s short history.
  • This match will see Misa Matsui and CHIAKI’s second attempt at the Twinstar Championships after coming up short against previous champions Nanae Takahashi and Seri Yamaoka at Korakuen Hall on April 25th 2025.
  • There is history between all four members, with Maria defeating CHIAKI in this year’s Dream Star Grand Prix, and with Misa Matsui and Riko Kawahata facing – and teaming with – each other regularly in AWG from 2018 through to 2020. Misa actually picked up her first ever victory whilst tagging with Riko, defeating the team of Mii and Momo Tani on 9th December 2018.
  • This show will mark the first time Shoko Koshino has competed in Mariold under her real name as a full-time member of the roster, as opposed to her alter-ego Flying Penguin.
  • Kizuna Tanaka will face Shinno in singles action with their respective mothers at ringside. Yumi Fukawa (Kizuna’s mother) and Michiko Omukai (Shinno’s mother) are good friends (as proved by pictures Kizuna Tanaka shared on Twitter) and were in ARSION together – Rossy’s former promotion back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The pair were in the same stable (Vogue Impact Poison) and were champions at various points throughout their run with the company. Fukawa’s career ended rather abruptly after being diagnosed with an acute subdural hematoma following a match in July of 2000, and she would officially retire the following March.
  • Due to this sudden end to her mother’s career, Kizuna Tanaka made mention in the Grand Destiny press conference that she is wrestling for her mother. She even went as far as to say that her mother wants her to win a singles title as she was never able to do it on her career.
  • Natsumi Showzuki will be absent from shows for the foreseeable future after it was announced that she would need to undergo surgery on her shoulder. Showzuki has since provided a picture of the x-ray and Marigold have confirmed the injury to be a ‘dislocated right shoulder joint and partial avulsion fracture of the labrum.’
  • Kouki Amarei will be absent from shows for the foreseeable future after it was announced that she had fractured her left clavicle on the 27th September at the Zushi Pro-Wrestling Festival.
