STARDOM NEWS: Saya Kamitani Announces Short Break Until Supreme Fight in Osaka in February

After wrestling in front of nearly 50,000 people in the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom 20, World of Stardom Champion Saya Kamitani has announced a short break until the Supreme Fight in Osaka show on the 7th February.

Following her failure to capture the IWGP Women’s Championship against Syuri – losing her own NJPW STRONG Women’s title in the process – Saya Kamitani gave an interview backstage, stating that the reason she lost is that she had been working to hard. She did however confirm she would be back for Stardom Supreme Fight in Osaka and her next World of Stardom Championship defence against Starlight Kid.

The full translation of the statement is provided below, courtesy of @MeraWrestling;

The cause of today’s loss, the reason I was defeated, is that Saya-sama has been working too much. So from tomorrow I’ll take some paid leave. I’m taking a short break. Is that alright, Okada? I’ll be taking some time off. My match with Starlight Kid is scheduled for February 7th in Osaka, but facing that little kitten should be easy.
